Argumento The Fourth Kind
En 1972 se estableció una escala para medir el contacto con extraterrestres. Cuando un OVNI era avistado, se denominó encuentro de primer tipo. Cuando una evidencia es obtenida, se conoce como evidencia de segundo tipo. Cuando se realiza un contacto con extraterrestres se trata de un contacto de tercer tipo. El último nivel, la abducción, es de cuarto tipo.
Este tipo de encuentros ha sido el más difícil de documentar… hasta ahora. La cinta nos lleva a la investigacion hecha en Nome (Alaska), un lugar conocido por el desproporcionado número de casos de desapariciones, en donde la psicóloga Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) comienza a realizar sesiones en video con pacientes traumatizados y poco a poco irá descubriendo que tiene en su poder la mayor evidencia de abducción alienígena jamás documentada.
